SHOW SCHEDULE

I attend and enter shows for a few reasons:

1. The NFRS is unique compared to other forms of showing in that the judge provides feedback to ALL of the entrants. This feedback is valuable as an unbiased second opinion on type and temperament. Any placings are a happy bonus!

2. I'm able to see a range of rats, and they're a useful comparison point for my rats.

3. It's a fantastic opportunity to network with other breeders to discuss plans and obtain advice on any issues I'm having/foreseeing. It's a great morale boost!

4. Outcross shopping!

I space out the shows that we attend, avoid repeatedly showing the same rat(s), and the rats as a collective have regular extended breaks from showing. I also avoid bringing rats to shows that require a lot of travel and overnight stays. The rats tend not to attend more than 5 shows in their lifetime. All of these measures ensure that they maintain good condition and are at lower infection risk.

If I have a job, and I usually do, the best time to chat with me is before benching unless I am show secretary or show manager. Otherwise, feel free to come to say hi anytime during the day!
